Passive Bonuses
  • UntouchableHeavy Attacks (M2) have i-frames and are uninterruptible
  • Guard Pierce III20% block chip damage
  • Perfect ReflexPerfect blocks reduce M2 cooldown by 1 second

Arguably the most powerful style, especially on short/medium builds. Spamming M2s after a parry becomes extremely oppressive once you master parrying.

Best for: Aggressive players who excel at parrying and close-range pressure

Wrestling

Grab-and-slam punish style with hyperarmor

  • Heavy Hitter III+15% guard-break damage (M1/M2)
  • Guard Pierce II15% block chip damage
  • Resilience V55% chance to clash into a grapple

Very strong on tall builds, but highly skill-based. Wait for enemy dash-in to guarantee a grab. Hyperarmor forces opponents to dodge/parry.

Best for: Tall players with patience and good read on opponent movement

Surprisingly competitive, making the game F2P-friendly. Playstyle revolves around parrying and counterattacking. Works with any height.

Best for: Beginners learning the game; F2P players

  • Crushing Force II+15% posture damage
  • Guard Pierce V30% block chip damage
  • Resilience V55% chance to clash into a grapple

Ideal for taller builds; built for constant close-range pressure. Crushing Force + Guard Pierce V break posture even when blocked. Requires aggressive, prediction-heavy playstyle.

Best for: Aggressive tall fighters who live in the opponent's face

Capoeira

Mobility-focused dash and counter style

  • Heavy Hitter I+5% guard-break damage
  • Guard Pierce II15% block chip damage
  • GingaDash cooldown shortened by 25%

All about mobility: Ginga reduces dash cooldown by 25%. Damage is mediocre; no hyperarmor/i-frames. High-skill style for players with perfect spacing.

Best for: Players who excel at dodges, parries, and hit-and-run tactics

Hakari

Snowball combo style with 3× damage burst window

Roll Chance

10%

Passive Bonuses
  • PowerfulRagdoll Heavy attacks (M2)
  • Momentum RushFull M1 combo (no stun) grants 7s of 3× M2 damage
  • Guard Pierce II15% block chip damage

Recently nerfed. M2 is strong in base form, but Momentum Rush is the win condition: land a full M1 combo → 7-second window where M2 deals 3× damage. Hard to activate against experienced players.

Best for: Group fighting where you can land combos on distracted enemies

Karate

Passive Bonuses
  • Steady NervesPerfect blocking increases posture regen by 15% for 3s
  • Balanced StrikeLanding M2 refunds 25% posture
  • Guard Pierce II15% block chip damage
  • Resilience II25% chance to clash into a grapple

A balanced style with no major weaknesses but also no powerful win condition. Excellent posture sustain, but lacks high-skill reward.

Best for: Defensive players; otherwise outclassed

Passive Bonuses
  • UnstableDeal & take 25% more damage
  • Guard Pierce V30% block chip damage
  • Resilience III45% clash chance

Actively puts you at a disadvantage. The extra damage only works against newbies; weak vs. any decent player. The 25% extra damage taken makes you fragile.

Best for: Role-playing or stomping newbies only

Fighting Styles FAQ

What is the best fighting style in Gakuran?

Boxing and Wrestling share S-Tier. Boxing is the strongest pick for short and mid builds thanks to i-frame heavy attacks and block chip damage. Wrestling is the top choice for tall builds because its grabs scale with damage and HP.

How do I get a new fighting style?

Fighting styles are rolled at character creation or changed with a reroll (5 Robux each). Basic is the most common at ~40%, followed by Muay Thai at ~30%. Boxing, Hakari, Wrestling, and Capoeira are much rarer, which is why the top styles take several rolls.

Does height affect fighting styles?

Yes. Height is the only character-creation stat that changes gameplay. Short builds attack and dash faster with shorter cooldowns, while tall builds hit harder, have more HP, and reach further. Matching your height to your style is what makes a build optimal.

Is the default Basic style any good?

Surprisingly yes. Basic is A-Tier and works with any height. It rewards perfect blocks with bonus damage and posture regen, making the game fully playable free-to-play. You only outgrow it once you can reliably roll Boxing or Wrestling.
